The 2011 International Professional Ramadan Photography Competition is open to all talented photographers around the world. The competition has no borders or passports and is open to anyone over the age of 18.

Judging of the top 100 photos entered into the competition's Facebook page will take place during October by a panel of world-renowned photographers. Cash prizes will be awarded and the top 100 photos will be published in an e-book .

Evaluation & Prizes

The top 100 photos entered into the www.facebook.com/RamadanPhotography page (as chosen by the organizers and the fans) will be judged by a panel of international photography experts to be announced in the last week of Ramadan. Photos will be judged on the following criteria: Impact and Message, Creativity, Photographic Quality,  Technical Expertise.

What are the prizes?

  1. The First Place winner will be awarded U.S. $2,000.

  2. The Second Place winner will be awarded U.S. $1,500.

  3. The Third Place winner will be awarded U.S. $1,000.

There will be three (3) Viewers' Choice winners as well as two (2) honorable mentions (although no prizes will be awarded to the latter). The Viewer’s Choice winners will be the those whose photos have the most “Likes” on the Facebook page, www.facebook.com/RamadanPhotography, and they will each be awarded US $250. The two (2) honorable mentions will be chosen by Studio Basel for demonstrating a high caliber of quality and creativity. All winners will have their winning photograph (and name) published in internationally acclaimed news and media outlets as well as international photography magazines. The top 100 photographs will be displayed on the competition website, www.capturethespiritoframadan.org until Ramadan 2012. Winners of the competition will be chosen on or around October 15th, 2011, and will be notified via Facebook and email. In the event that a winner cannot be traced or does not respond within ten (10) days to the notification, the prize will be forfeited. Decisions of the judges are final and binding.
